The news of Jackman’s exit from the X-men franchise comes as no surprise as the actor has, for the past couple of years, been unsure of his characters future. This was confirmed earlier this year when Jackman heavily implied that he has just one film as the iconic mutant, Wolverine, left in him. This new post just seems to put the nail in the proverbial coffin. It look likes even Wolverines healing powers can’t help him now.

Leading to many of his loyal followers to beg him not to leave (obviously) and for the actor to tackle the storyline of Old Man Logan, a graphic novel that is beloved to fans worldwide.

Old Man Logan tells the story of an ageing Logan and his fight in the not to distant future where super villains have taken over the United States and no superheroes are left to jump in and save the day, making Logan take action into his own hands. Think ‘Rambo’ but with Adamantium claws.

At this moment in time it’s unknown as to whether Jackman will reprise his role in the form of cameos in next years X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and DEADPOOL. But Twentieth Century Fox have already announced that WOLVERINE 3, Jackman’s official final outing as the Canadian superhero, will be hitting cinemas around the world in 2017.
