Logan Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and James Mangold talk all things Logan in a Facebook Live Q&A

On Tuesday afternoon at 4:45pm UK time, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and James Mangold were on Facebook Live talking about their upcoming movie, LOGAN. If you missed it, don’t worry, you can re-watch the footage in the video player below.

Of course it didn’t take long for the attention to turn to Hugh Jackman and him hanging up his claws after spending so much of his career as the iconic character, Wolverine. The actor looked more than happy to discuss this being his last film and admitted he still feels it is the correct decision for him: “I feel at peace and calm that this is the last one.” He continued, “I love the character [in this movie] more than I have ever loved that character.”

For the actor, it was clear that he thought the timing was right and he sat at the table showing no signs of regret about his decision: “I’ve left the greatest party of my life at the best time…”

Continuing on the theme of hanging up his claws, the Australian actor confessed that he knew it was on the cards a long time before production for the film began: “I knew 2-and-a-half years ago that this was the last one.”

Shortly after, the discussion with Hugh Jackman was over and the conversation and Q&A session continued with his co-star Patrick Stewart and the film’s director, James Mangold.

Patrick Stewart was asked about the heavy impact it had on him knowing that Jackman would not be returning and this was the last film – he shared a touching story showing the true humility of the man we have come to love as Wolverine when Stewart wrapped on the film: “Hugh called for attention from the whole set and made a speech about me… I’m beginning to choke up as I remember it… Nobody has ever done that for me before…”

The British actor however, did reveal that Jackman was emotional about it despite his cool exterior, particularly during a recent screening: “During the last 10 minutes in Berlin, we (Hugh Jackman) held hands because we were so emotional.”

Director James Mangold agreed with Stewart on this, explaining that during filming he was too occupied with what needed to be done to really take in that it was the final film: “I didn’t allow myself to feel the power of what we had done. The power of it occurred to me sitting in Berlin watching the finished film.”

We don’t know about you guys, but we can’t wait for the film to be released for all to see, but be prepared for an emotional one. Hugh Jackman may be ready to say goodbye, but we certainly are not!

LOGAN hits UK Cinemas and IMAX March 1st, 2017
