Hasbro cinematic universe

Hasbro are getting all their toys out of the toybox.

In a bid to bring its own interconnected cinematic universe to life, Hasbro have assembled a writers room. It consists of: Michael Chabon (The Adventures of Cavalier and Clay), Brian K Vaughan (Lost/Under the Dome), Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), Lindsey Beer (Wizard of Oz), Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Spider-Man:Homecoming), Geneva Robertson (Tomb Raider), Cheo Coker (Ray Donovan), Nicole Riegel (Soldier Girls) and Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther).

Their mission will be to create storylines for a series of would-be franchises around its: ‘GI Joe’, ‘Micronauts’, ‘Visionaries’, ‘M.A.S.K.’, and ROM toy lines. Any prospective movies will run alongside Paramount and Hasbro’s Golden Raspberry award-winning, explosion ‘Transformers’ series. The future is bright.

It’s unknown if Hasbro’s cinematic universe will be a carbon copy of Marvel’s model, or follow DCs grim and gritty approach, or just put a load of indistinguishable characters together in a few loosely connected movies like they have with the Transformers. Somehow the GI Joe combat unit have find a way to communicate with an underground task force with transforming cars (not from Cybertron) a group of magic alien knights, microscopic adventurers, and a space knight from Galador.

Seemingly unaware of Transformers reputation for melting audiences’ brains, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, Brad Grey said:“Paramount and Hasbro have partnered on many successful films in the past, including the ‘Transformers’ and ‘GI Joe’ franchises. Bringing together a writers room of this caliber is a bold step for our partnership, and one that we believe is critical for building these brands into new, successful franchises for the future.”

Hasbro’s film label Allspark Pictures will produce, with Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner and CCO Stephen Davis on board, and Hasbro’s ‘Head of Storytelling’ Josh Feldman as co-executive producer.
