Golden Globes 2017: The Full List of Nominations – La La Land,’ ‘Moonlight,’ ‘The People V. O.J. Simpson’ Lead The Pack

The nominees for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced. The musical “La La Land” earned seven nominations, including best picture, best director and best actor and actress noms for Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. “Moonlight,” followed “La La Land” with six nominations.

Award season is ticking ever closer and with it, the nominees for the 2017 Golden Globe Awards have arrived.

Golden Globe winners Don Cheadle and Laura Dern and Golden Globe nominee Anna Kendrick announced the film and TV contenders Monday morning from The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, the site of the annual awards show. 

Leading the pack and stacking up the nominations is LA LA LAND with a total of seven mentions, followed by MOONLIGHT with six.

From the small screen, THE PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON: AMERICAN CRIME STORY tops the TV nominations with five, followed by THE NIGHT MANAGER with four.

The 74th Golden Globe Awards, which are voted for by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, an LA-based group of around 90 foreign journalists, will be hosted by Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon (it was Ricky Gervais last year) and it will take place on Sunday January 8th, 2017 – so there’s less than a month to go!

Along with the nominations and the surprises, there were some snubs too, in the form of FINDING DORY. Although it’s the highest-grossing movie of the year, Disney/Pixar’s well-reviewed sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo was overlooked for best animated feature. Other animated movies up for an award are ZOOTOPIA, MOANA and TROLLS to name but a few. 

Clint Eastwood‘s latest movie SULLY performed well in the box office, however, it didn’t land any nods from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association including recognition for director Eastwood and actor Tom Hanks. 

Perhaps one of the biggest shocks of all is for Martin Scorsese‘s SILENCE, which also has been overlooked despite boasting an impressive cast including Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson. The challenging 17th-century religious epic, which has been nearly 30 years in the making!

Finally, don’t even start us off on Jake Gyllenhaal missing out on a nomination for NOCTURNAL ANIMALS…
