Justice League movie

Back in 2007 George Miller the famed writer-director of the MAD MAX films had plans to write and direct a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie for release in 2009. A collection of problems including a writer’s strike and budget issues killed the project before it got off the ground.

However it did have an interesting cast lined up unlike the usual suspects. Armie Hammer was to play Batman, D.J. Cotrona would portray Superman and Common would be in the role of Green Lantern. Others included Adam Brody as Barry Allen a.k.a The Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman. So not the typical choices for the roles, it would have been interesting to see these unique choices in the iconic DC superhero costumes.

The project titled JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL may be dead, but that doesn’t mean we cannot know the story of its early development. A documentary is being made about the superhero movie that failed to fly by producers Aaron Cater and Steven Caldwell and director Ryan
Unicomb. This documentary sounds similar to another titled The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? Which chronicles a bizarre failed Superman movie in 1998 that would actually feature Nicholas Cage as Superman and be directed by Tim Burton. For a brief stint the genius Kevin Smith was brought in to write on the project. Luckily he got out, but he often talks about the insane bullet he dodged on podcasts.

The DC cinematic universe has of course moved forward from this and now has a JUSTICE LEAGUE team-up movie among other coming in 2017 featuring such actors as Jason Momoa in the role of Aquaman and Ben Affleck beneath the cowl as Batman.
