It seems the world is going Shakespeare crazy, well Hamlet crazy at least.

Aswell as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hamlet which opens at the Barbican in October, the full casting has now been announced for the production of Hamlet at the Manchester’s Royal Exchange.

We already knew that Maxine Peake (Shameless,The Hollow Crown) was cast as Hamlet, but joining her are Jodie McNee (The Physician) who takes on the role of Rosenclantz, Claire Benedict (Felicia’s Journey) stars as Player King.

Gillian Bevan (Teachers), Barber Marten (The Mill) and Kate West (Grange Hill) take on the roles of Polonia, Gertrude and Ophelia respectively.

Amongst the male members of the company are Thomas Arnold, Dean Gregory, Peter Singh and Ben Stott.

This is the second time Maxine is returning to the Exchange as she’s reunited once again with artistic director Sarah Frankcom.

Catch Hamlet at the Royal Exchange in Manchester from 11th September until 18th October.
