Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum fight obsession in Foxcatcher.

Foxcatcher

On Thursday evening, the much-anticipated drama FOXCATCHER premiered at the BFI London Film Festival.

The acclaimed new drama is based on the real-life story of brothers Mark and Dave Schultz (played by Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo). Foxcatcher tells the story of the Olympic gold-medallist wrestlers who become the obsession of troubled millionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell).

The film directed by Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball), doesn’t just tell the tale of great wrestlers, it examines one of the most horrifying tragedies in the history of the sport, with drastic consequences for  Dave Schultz on the Foxcatcher property.

Earlier this year, FOXCATCHER debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received overwhelmingly positive early reviews and the film’s director took home the Best Director award.

The film, which also stars Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller, has already created an awards season buzz around it, as Carell, who is known for his comedic performances, has swapped genres to take on this dramatic role.

FOXCATCHER WILL be released in the UK on January 9th, 2015.
