Tom Hiddleston has taken on the role of Hank Williams in ‘I Saw The Light’

Hold on to your hats, Sony Pictures Classics has released the first look at Tom Hiddleston as country music legend Hank Williams in the upcoming biopic I SAW THE LIGHT.

It is a very different role for Hiddleston who is largely known for playing Loki in THOR and can next be seen as Thomas Sharpe in the gothic thriller CRIMSON PEAK. In the photo, we can see him in character costume as he dons  a cowboy hat and is smartly dressed in a suit and tie.

I SAW THE LIGHT biopic will tell the story of Williams’ rise to fame and tragic personal life, which ended with his death at age 29 from heart failure after battling alcoholism, prescription drug abuse and back problems.

The film is being brought to the big screen by Marc Abraham who has written and directed the feature. Joining Hiddleston on the big screen is Elizabeth Olsen who is playing his wife, Audra Mae, and Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson and Wren Schmidt are completing the casting ensemble.

The title is named after Williams’ 1948 song of the same name and based on the 1994 book Hank Williams: The Biography.

I SAW THE LIGHT opens in limited release on November 27th and will go nationwide shortly afterwards. With the release date drawing in, we can expect a trailer for the film soon.
