There has been a lot of talk surrounding the possibility that the popular BBC TV show ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS is being adapted into a movie, and now as you can see above, it is not just a rumour.
Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders are reprising their roles as the cameras have started rolling on ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE.
Mandie Fletcher is in the director’s chair for this one bringing to life Saunders’ script. With Edina and Patsy back to bring more chaos, they will be joined once more by Julia Sawalha’s Saffy, Jane Horrocks as Bubble and June Whitfield as Mother. “I am thrilled and excited to finally start filming,” says Saunders. “We are all taking our medication and hoping for the best.”
The plot may come as no surprise , as it stays true to its style in the British sitcom, which sees Edina and Patsy shopping, drinking and clubbing their way round London’s top spots until they stumble into a fashionable launch party and are blamed for a major incident. Fleeing the ensuing media storm and attendant paparazzi, they head penniless to the French Riviera, but start to form a plan to stay there permanently.
There is a whole host of recognisable faces on board including Kate Moss, Emma Bunton, Chris Colfer, Dawn French, Kim Kardashian and many more who are set to star in the film which is currently shooting in the UK and the South of France.
No release date has been set for ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE yet, but it is scheduled to hit cinemas next year.
