The very first images and official poster have been released from PRISONERS and ENEMY director Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming action-thriller SICARIO.
All eyes are firmly on the Cannes Film Festival this month, the very place where SICARIO will get its debut.
The movie has been penned by Taylor Sheridan and follows FBI agent Kate played by Emily Blunt and her conflicting journey that descends into the intrigue, and mayhem of the borderland drug wars. In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, Kate is enlisted by an elite government task force official (Josh Brolin) to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Suddenly, she is exposed to the brutal world of international drug trafficking by members of a government task force who have enlisted her in their plan to take out a Mexican cartel boss.
An impressive array of actors are also on board in the form of Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro (TRAFFIC, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), Jon Bernthal (THE WALKING DEAD, FURY), and Victor Garber (ALIAS, THE FLASH).
SICARIO is due to arrive in cinemas in September.
