It’s been known for a while now that Paul Feig‘s GHOSTBUSTERSÂ reboot will feature an all-female team in the starring roles, however, this doesn’t completely count out a return from some of the key actors from the previous movies.
We learnt a few months ago that Dan Aykroyd was interested in a return to the Ghostbusters universe, however it was quite unlikely in most people’s minds for Bill Murray to return. We were mistaken, the news that Murray will have a cameo in the reboot took film fans everywhere completely off guard.
However, I have yet more news for you, Ghostbusters fans – not only will we get cameo appearances from Bill Murray and Dan Akyroyd, but Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts also.
Hudson and Potts were reportedly spotted on set towards the end of filming. At the moment the whispers tell me that none of the actors from the originals will be playing their iconic roles. The movie is a straight reboot, completely retconning the events of the original franchise. So unfortunately, we aren’t going to get to see Winston, Peter, Janine and Ray on-screen again. Having said that, it is awesome that the original actors are returning at all regardless of in what context.
Let’s hope peer pressure takes over and leads to the rest of the remaining cast members getting on board. It would be great to see them all back together again.
The Paul Feig-directed project will arrive in cinemas on July 22nd, 2016 and also stars Chris Hemsworth.
