Deadpool

A look at the friends and foes in the Merc with a Mouth’s movie….

Casting 24/7 has posted new information regarding DEADPOOL’s supporting cast, many of which describe characters from the source material. Somewhat unsurprisingly in a world dominated by features and franchises starring spandex-clad characters, all of the roles require multi-picture deals.
Here are the character descriptions in full:

[RIDGE] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a dick but with a sense of humor. He is not a psychopath, he’s practical but morally neutral—he doesn’t enjoy torturing people, he just doesn’t care.

This description may refer to T-Ray a sorcerer-mercenary and prominent antagonist in Deadpool’s first ongoing comic series.

[LINDSAY] Any ethnicity, 20s, attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm.

This breakdown could refer to two femme fatales who have a history with the merc with a mouth: i) Domino; a freelance mercenary and member of X-Force, or ii) Copycat; a shape-shifter and Deadpool’s ex-girlfriend.

[SIMON] Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 40s. Quirky, great sense of humor. Smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery. Fast talker, always looking to make a buck. He looks out for himself first and foremost, but reveals loyalty at the end of the day.

This description could refer to Deadpool’s ally Weasel, who also serves as his information broker and arms dealer.

[SHIRLIE] African American, late 60s to early 80s. Worldly, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, dry, funny.

This brief character explanation may refer to Blind Al, Deadpool’s friend, housekeeper, and prisoner.

The final three character breakdowns are harder to speculate:

[KATHY] Any ethnicity, early to mid-teens. World weary, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, droll sense of humor.

[KEREN] Any ethnicity, early 20s to late 30s. Serious, big, tough.

[ALBERT] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous.

Ryan Reynolds, TJ Miller and Gina Carano are already cast in the movie and production is set to start in March reportedly in Canada. DEADPOOL arrives in cinemas in 2016.
