Its been played quite a lot on ITV by now but every time I see the trailer for Cilla I get more excited and more anxious to find out a release date.

Sheridan Smith portrays the famous Liverpolian Cilla Black in the three part drama series ‘coming soon’ to ITV.

According to the description for the trailer, Cillia is essentially a three-part biopic of her life and rise to fame in 1960s Liverpool, and focuses on how she met the two men to shape her life and essentially love and fight for her. Future husband Bobby Willis and manager Brian Epstein.

It also features the likes of Ringo , John, George and Paul and how they not only become one of the most famous bands around and play one of the most famous clubs in Liverpool, but also how knowing and befriending The Beatles, helped shaped Cilla’s career.

Sheridan will be joined in the cast by Aneurin Barnard (The White Queen, Citadel, We’ll Take Manhatten) as Cilla’s husband Bobby, Ed Stoppard (The Politician’s Husband, Silent Witness, Branded) as Brian Epstein, John Henshaw (Downton Abbey, Midsomer Murders, South Riding) as Cilla’s father, John White and Melanie Hill (Waterloo Road, Hebburn, Merlin) is Cilla’s mother, Priscilla, known affectionately to her family as Big Cilla.

TV’s Director of Drama Steve November and Controller of Drama Victoria Fea have commissioned Cilla.

“Jeff’s scripts offer an extraordinary insight into Cilla’s humble beginnings and meteoric rise to chart success,” said Steve. “He captures Liverpool life back in the 60s through her eyes and it’s fascinating to thinking of her hanging out back stage at the Cavern Club with The Beatles,” said Steve.

By the looks of the trailer alone, it looks to be Sheridan’s next Mrs Biggs role.
