Star Trek

STAR TREK 3 hasn’t even arrived in cinemas yet and already we have actors signing up for the fourth installment.

Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) are both on board for another mission and have already signed on the dotted line to reprise their roles in STAR TREK 4.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Pine and Quinto have also bagged themselves a rather big raise for the next movie.

“The studio behind Star Trek Beyond quietly has locked up two key players for a potential fourth instalment,” they explain. “Sources say Chris Pine has scored about $6 million [for the upcoming ‘Star Trek 3’] as he and Zachary Quinto have granted an option for a fourth instalment of the rebooted franchise as Paramount renegotiated their deals.”

This is good news for die hard fans of STAR TREK who will be pleased to see them in yet another film and once again on the USS Enterprise.

For the moment, there is very little else that has been revealed about STAR TREK 4 from Paramount Pictures and this news has been the first hint that another sequel is even on the cards.

“When the original cast — Pine, Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho — signed on for the movie that re-launched the franchise in 2009, they did so with options for two sequels,” explains THR. “Despite the fact that studios often will give stars big new deals in case of success, no re-negotiations took place for 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness.”

Instead, the cast of the rebooted STAR TREK FRANCHISE are said to have only received nominal raises that were part of their original contract… but with that contract due to come to an end, it’s time to start throwing money at their stars to keep them on board.

And that’s why Pine and Quinto have now signed on for the fourth film.

It will be interesting to see how well STAR TREK 3 performs at the box office, but it will not be launching into cinemas until July 8th, 2016.
