It seems like the trend for turning classic Disney cartoons into live action movies is set to continue, as Universal and Working Title have found their leading mermaid – Chloe Grace Moretz.
The actress has confirmed that she has signed up to play the title character in their new live-action adaptation of THE LITTLE MERMAID.
​The actress could not hide her excitement about her latest project, as she took to Twitter to share the good news to her many followers:
This is certainly good news for those looking forward to the live adaptation project, after the Sofia Coppola, who was on director duties, pulled out due to creative differences.Â
Due to her exiting the project, it is reported that studio executives took another look at the script and have decided on bringing in FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL’s Richard Curtis screenwriter to tell the tale of this Disney classic in a fresh, new way.Â
The latest adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen‘s tale will see the story follow a mermaid who wishes to become human after falling in love with a man she saved from drowning.
This is very exciting news for Moretz, who we think will make a fantastic Ariel!
