Peter Duncan, Edmund Wiseman and Emily Bowker head the cast of the 2015 national tour

Having played to packed theatres over the past few years, The Original Theatre Company are back for a third year for their national tour of BIRDSONG, the best selling book by Sebastian Faulks, and adapted to the stage by Rachel Walstaff.

BIRDSONG follows the story of Stephen Wraysford, a soldier fighting in the First World War, but also about his affair with a young French woman, Isabelle. Throughout the use of flashbacks, the audience are taken back through his life before the war with Isabelle and his fight on the front line.

The casting for this year’s tour has now been announced and here at Film and TV Now, we couldn’t be more excited with the choices.

In the role our protagonist, Stephen, is Edmund Wiseman known for his work at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Playing the beautiful Isabelle Azaire, with whom Stephen has an affair, is Emily Bowker. Emily is most known for her roles in CITY RATS and WHO CALLS THE HEART.

Returning from last year are Selma Brook (THE TUDORS) who once again takes on the role of Lisette Azaire, James Staddon is taking on the role of Rene Azaire and Captain Grey. Peter Duncan is back as Firebrace and after a years break, Liam Mccormick returns as Shaw.

Cloudia Swann will play the role of Jeanne Frontemier, Isabelle’s younger sister whilst Max Bowden, most recently known for his role as Justin in Waterloo Road, takes on the role of young soldier, Tipper. Roger Martin, from Dreamboats and Petticoats will portray Berrard, with James Findlay as Brennan and Emily Altneau as Marguerite.

Alastair Whately, once again returns to direct and produce the show.
