A Ghost Story stars Oscar-winner Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara
A24 has revealed the first trailer for their upcoming fantasy drama A GHOST STORY, starring Oscar-winner Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea) and Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network). It is quite an emotional trailer, with the haunting soundtrack accompaniment of Dark Room’s soundtrack, “I Get Overwhelmed.” Take a look at footage in the video player above.
A GHOST STORY has been helmed by David Lowery , who called the shots on AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS, which also starred Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara in that one too. In A GHOST STORY, Lowery will also be working on his own script which he has penned.
Here is the official synopsis:Â A ghost (Casey Affleck) silently observes his grieving widow (Rooney Mara) in his beloved home.Â
There is certainly an interesting aspect ratio for this film from what we have seen in the trailer and it seems to be bringing a different story to life – we certainly wouldn’t expect to see Affleck wearing a sheet for most of the film, but it is seems to work with the premise of the story. Also, what is interesting is that reportedly, the film was shot in a mostly singular location – in one house.Â
There has been a lot of excitement and buzz surrounding A GHOST STORY since it premiered on January 22, 2017 at the Sundance Film Festival to largely positive reviews. With an Oscar already under his belt, Affleck will no doubt garner a lot of attention towards the film and with Mara also involved in the project, it certainly is set for success.Â
Joining Affleck and Mara on the big screen for this one is McColm Sephas Jr., Kenneisha Thompson, Grover Coulson, Liz Cardenas Franke and Barlow Jacobs.
The film is produced by Sailor Bear, Zero Trans Fat Productions, Ideaman Studios and Scared Sheetless.
A Ghost Story will arrive in cinemas on July 7th, 2017.
