It was a good night for Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi and The Fall’s Jamie Dornan, who all left the GQ Men of the Year Awards having scooped top prizes on Tuesday night.

Cumberbatch, the man who never seems to stop working, can now add another trophy to sit alongside his Emmy award after winning Actor of the Year for his work in Sherlock, The Hobbit and 12 Years a Slave. The actor, known for his good sense of humour took to the stage in style:

“This is wonderful. I’d like to thank James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender for not being available.  But seriously, it’s an embarrassment of riches. I’m in one of those extraordinary rooms with extraordinary people. Thank you Mum and Dad for rearing me. Wait, what century am I in? I’m going to leave the stage now because I drank a lot and I need the loo.”

It was a good night for the most famous ‘Doctor’ in the world right now – Peter Capaldi – who picked up TV Personality of the Year  and he was equally as jovial at the Cumberbatch:

“I’ve been very lucky because in the past I’ve received awards for my acting. This is the first I’ve received for my personality, which I assume means they’ve never met me.”

Christian Grey, sorry, Jamie Dornan, who is best known for his upcoming movie in the adaptation of E L James’s Fifty Shades of Grey won the Best Breakthrough award.

The night’s special award went to TAKEN star Liam Neeson who laughed that he’s lucky he’s still got people “offering me s***” after thirty years in the business.

Other actors to take to the stage to receive an award were Douglas Booth (Noah) who picked up Most Stylish Man and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Jonah Hill took home International Man.

Gerard Butler and Bradley Cooper were two other actors in attendance to hand out the awards to the lucky winners and it seemed quite the night for those partying the night away!
