At the Opening Night Gala of THE IMITATION GAME, at the 58th BFI London Film Festival, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and a host of supporting stars turned out on a rainy night for the the London film festival screening of the film.

The lovely people at StudioCanal have released a sizzle reel of the glittering opening gala at Leicester Square, where you can watch last night’s red carpet action, see all the arrivals and interviews with the stars including Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong and Charles Dance.

THE IMITATION GAME is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing, the pioneering mathematician and computer scientist who played a key role in decrypting German codes in the second world war and on Wednesday night, he finally had a moment in the spotlight 60 years after he killed himself in 1954.

The film’s cast is led by Cumberbatch, who plays Turing, and Knightley, who plays Joan Clarke, Turing’s fellow cryptographer at Bletchley Park who developed a close relationship with him.

The cryptographer and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, worked rigorously hard during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

The film, which won the top prize at the recent Toronto Film Festival, is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Morten Tyldum, and also stars Matthew Goode, Mark Strong and Downton Abbey actor Allen Leech.

THE IMITATION GAME KICKS off the London Film Festival, which runs until 19 October and is out in cinemas November 14th.

Meanwhile, here is the trailer for the film:
