It was another good night for Benedict Cumberbatch at the GQ Man of the Year Awards after collecting another trophy to add to his mantelpiece. UK Entertainment channel, London Live were on the red carpet to interview the Hollywood actor and star of BBC’s Sherlock to talk about scooping the EMMY award for Actor of the Year for his work in Sherlock:
“It was an amazing honour and I couldn’t believe it. I’m slightly still giddy from it. It’s a lovely thing for the programme, we won a lot that night.. it was terrific”
The in-demand actor seems to be popping up all over the big and small screens fulfilling a variety of different roles. He is currently working on Andy Serkis’ THE JUNGLE BOOK as Shere Khan and has a busy month ahead with his movie THE IMITATION GAME premiering at the London Film Festival on October 3rd, 2014. Despite his work commitments and global success, home is where the heart is and the Cumberbatch discusses his love for London:
“It’s home, it’s where most my friends and family are. It’s where I live.. it’s where I’ve spend most of my life. It’s the city I know best in the world and love best in the world. You can’t really say more than that about home.. it continues to surprise, educate, thrill, amuse.. and bemuse me sometimes . It is one of the greatest cities in the world…we’re really lucky.”
Attending premieres and filming all across the world has pulled the Brit away from his home quite a lot and he reveals just what it is that he likes to do when he is back in Blighty:
“I don’t live that far from Hampstead Heath.. I don’t think that’s too much of a secret – so it’s very nice to experience woodland in the middle of the city. I love catching up with friends, restaurants and cafes. The usual things that Londoners get up to really… films. But also for staying at home because it’s become a precious commodity of late.”
