Ben Affleck The Batman

It seems THE BATMAN movie has hit another stumbling block: Matt Reeves, the new director for the film, has reportedly withdrawn himself from the project leaving the movie on the hunt for a new director.

Originally, it was the titular character’s actor, Ben Affleck, who played the cape crusader in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN alongside Henry Cavill, who was first going to call the shots on the movie. However, Affleck made it clear that unfortunately he would have to step down from his directing duties, stating: “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Now, THE BATMAN will be looking for another replacement as Matt Reeves has reportedly turned down the project too. Reeves is largely known for his work on CLOVERFIELD and WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES and he has only been attached to the project for a week. , and now his replacement – Cloverfield director Matt Reeves – has reportedly turned down the project as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source claimed that “negotiations have broken down.”

It is not a time to despair though for fans of the DC comics and Batman, as the same source insisted that Warner Bros would be making THE BATMAN no matter what. Originally, production was scheduled to commence in the summer but this still remains unclear until a new director boards the project, which has been penned by Ben Affleck alongside Geoff Johns.

Keep your eyes peeled for further information on who will be signing on for the next movie in the franchise and when production will finally begin.
