The BBC have revealed Peter Capaldi’s outfit for Doctor Who

It seems like we have been waiting forever, but here it is, the first official photograph from the BBC of Peter Capaldi in his Doctor Who costume.

Capaldi is the 12th person to take on the role and is a self-confessed fan of the series and it will not be long until he appears on the small screen in the autumn to take on the iconic role.

Designer Howard Burden has created an outfit that has a slightly different style for this doctor, with Capaldi donning a well put together outfit, minus the scarf, as they try to create a rebellious Time Lord.  He is wearing a stylish, dark blue coat with a white shirt and cardigan underneath and to add even more edge to the costume, Capaldi is also sporting a pair of black Dr. Marten boots.

Capaldi told the BBC how he liked the marriage of old and new styles for the Doctor:

“He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”

Lead writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat also shared his thoughts on the costume:

New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

What are your thoughts on the outfit?  Are you looking forward to the new season?  Leave your comments below.
