The acclaimed music documentary Take Me To The River named Feature Film of the Festival

Take Me To The River
Take Me To The River wins Feature Film of the Festival Award at Raindance.

The 22nd annual Raindance Film festival came to a close this weekend, with the winning films in twelve categories announced at the festival’s annual awards ceremony at The May Fair Hotel on Saturday, 4th October.

Over a very fantastic two weeks, Raindance hosted over 100 feature length films, 176 shorts and 40 industry events from more than 50 countries. The winning films were selected from a shortlist by the 2014 Raindance jury, a panel of influential figures from the media world including Andrew Scott (BBC’s Sherlock), Alice Lowe (Sightseers, Hot Fuzz), and Amy Hubbard (casting director Homeland and 24).

TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, a documentary charting the influence of Memphis and Mississippi Delta blues musicians, was named Feature Film of the Festival, an award recognising the film that best encapsulates the independent spirit that Raindance has so proudly championed for the past two decades.

LUNA came up trumps winning The Best British Feature Award and THE LIGHT SHINES ONLY THERE took the Best International Feature accolade.

The Raindance Film Festival took place in London at Vue Piccadilly from 24th September – 5th October and is Europe’s largest independent film festival.
